Natural Materials
Each material has its innate qualities and characteristics – eggshell’s strength, abaca’s salt resistance, mango’s fibrous texture.
Skilled Craft
Meticulous detail is achieved through the hands of an experienced artisan. Craftsmanship at its finest.
Unique Application
We have deep experience in producing for interior, exterior or industrial design purposes.
Weave, which incorporates plant fibers for intricate, textured finishes.
Casting, where crushed eggshells are mixed with bio resin to create smooth, durable surfaces.
Inlay, a method of delicately setting materials such as feathers or bone to create bespoke, artful patterns.
Weave
Weaving dates back to Neolithic times. Before it became predominantly a textile craft, branches, twigs and other plant fibres were woven for shelter, into baskets and nets. The weaving tradition in the Philippines spans diverse materials and functions, notably using native plant fibres like pineapple, abaca and buri on frame and hand looms. We foster, develop and enhance these skills in combination with European design, to ensure they remain relevant and timeless for future generations.
Casting
Evidence of casting goes back to the Bronze Age. In essence it needs a sculpted form from which to make a mold, from which the casting material then takes the original form. We combine the tradition of fine hand carving with modern casting methods in which we use our proprietary material mixes like compounds of crushed eggshell and seashell with bio resin.
Inlay
Inlay has been practiced in every culture from Ur in 2500BCE to the present day. It involves the setting of precious materials with great skill and precision into a base material for ornamentation. In the Philippines, relics of shell and bone inlay exemplify the same tradition. Today, we elevate this heritage skill to a new height by inlaying a range of natural materials from traditional ones like seashell and eggshell to innovative ones like mango seeds and feathers.
